2015/2016 New Jersey FIRST Tech Challenge "Showcase Team" Program

Be a New Jersey FIRST Tech Challenge Showcase Team!

We are bringing the NJ FTC "Showcase Team" Program back for the third year!

Picture
No one tells – or shows – the FIRST story better than FIRST teams!

New Jersey FIRST Tech Challenge is raising the bar in showcasing FTC statewide, and we’re inviting New Jersey FTC teams to be an active part of our statewide outreach efforts to grow FIRST Tech Challenge throughout New Jersey, gain some recognition for your teams and schools, and hone student marketing and presentation skills in the process.

Showcase Teams Will:

  • Be Recognized on the New Jersey FTC website on the
    NJ FTC Teams page
  • Receive a Showcase Team Banner from NJ FTC to display in your pit
  • Receive the Showcase Team Banner icon above to use on team websites and promotional materials.
Watch the NJ FTC Events page for Official NJ FTC Outreach events, or email us at mailto:NewJerseyFTC@aol.com to find out about upcoming opportunities.

All teams will always be advised of outreach opportunities, but teams that express a special interest in outreach will be contacted for regional and media opportunities that may arise.

Here's How It Works:

One Star Teams:
Actively and professionally participate in a minimum of three outreach events in New Jersey
:
  • At least (1) to be as key support of an official NJ FTC Outreach event
  • At least (1) to be organized and hosted by your team (science fairs, e-week, etc.)
  • The third event can be either of the above, or as key support of an event organized by another NJ FTC team.

Two Star Teams:
Actively and professionally participate in a minimum of three outreach events in New Jersey:
  • At least (1) to be as key support of an official NJ FTC Outreach event
  • At least (1) to be organized and hosted by your team (science fairs, e-week, etc.)
  • The third event can be either of the above, or as key support ofan event organized by another NJ FTC team.

Three Star Teams:
tively and professionally participate in a minimum of three outreach events in New Jersey:
  • At least (1) to be as key support of an official NJ FTC Outreach event
  • At least (1) to be organized and hosted by your team (science fairs, e-week, etc.)
  • The third event can be either of the above, or as key support of an event organized by another NJ FTC team.

How to Apply:

  • Documentation of outreach will be accepted throughout the "outreach season", March, 2015 through March, 2016.
  • Each event should have a separate application submitted, and supporting information should be included (flyer, photos, etc)

Thank you to all the teams who participated in the Showcase Program this Season!
Applications are now closed as we prepare for the NJ State Championship!

That’s it! Of course, we have some protocols for teams seeking Showcase status.
  • Students do the outreach and the reporting – We’re trying to showcase how capable our students are and they need every opportunity to become capable of explaining what they do and how they do it. Outreach events are great practice!
  • Understand your FIRST program – Team members should have an “elevator speech” explanation of FIRST that’s easy for kids to share (i.e. something like “FIRST teaches science and engineering through robot competitions.”), and introduce FIRST programs by their full name before using the acronyms.
  • Be informed about the event at which you’re exhibiting – And be able to relate FIRST involvement to the business community involved in the event.
  • GP conduct at all times – Everyone (adults & students) at an event must be dressed appropriately, business casual with team shirts, and long pants, unless otherwise advised; be attentive to guests, and chaperons must be attentive to kids – no texting, non-FIRST game playing (gaming, horseplay, etc)

NJ FTC would like to thank FIRSTinFlorida for graciously sharing their Showcase Team idea..
